There were giants on the earth in those days.
The dark days, following the departure of Eden from the face of the earth. When the Sons of God dwelt among mortals, sharing with them the secrets of Heaven. Before the Dynasties of Egypt and Mesopotamia.
There were giants on the earth in those days.
The Antediluvian Epoch, the Flood, and the Corruption of Man
The Grigori were tasked with observing the development of mankind following the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden. But as the human race slowly spread through the strange untamed wilderness of the newly formed world, these Watchers grew infatuated with their charges. Fascinated by their tenacity, imagination, and emotion, concepts which were alien to the Angels of Heaven, the Grigori fell in love with those curious creatures born in the image of the Most High.
After centuries of standing apart, one of the angels made a decision. The entity took up the flesh, and descended to earth. He was human, though still divine, and those who saw him fell to his feet and began to worship him. The other Grigori witnessed this, and there was soon a multitude who followed thereafter. They established mighty cities, and shared with humans the secret esoteric sciences of their realm. Then they took wives and husbands for themselves, and from that physical union, they bore the Nephilim.
The first of us.
Giants among men, with the forms of humans and the power of the Grigori, the Nephilim were heroes, kings, tyrants, and lords. Once the Watchers had established their kingdoms, they returned to the spiritual realm, and left their children behind to reign in their stead. The human race continued to expand their understanding of Heaven's secrets, and the wonders they produced would be remembered through the ages in the myths of all nations thereafter. Flying machines and floating cities, monsters and weapons of mass destruction, miracles and half animal demi-gods all held their place in this age of magic and Heavenly science. And greatest among all wonders were the Nephilim themselves. Legends such as Gilgamesh, Heracles, Perseus, Varna, and Bragi were all counted among their number, and the world trembled beneath their feet.
Then the Almighty turned his gaze to earth, and he saw what the Grigori had done. The knowledge and power of Heaven had tainted the whole of creation, and the Almighty raged. He sought all across the world for what traces remained which were untouched by the corruption of the Grigori. That which could be saved was saved, and then the Most High unleashed his fury upon the rest. The storehouses of Heaven were emptied, as were the reservoirs of the earth, and the whole world drowned in the Great Flood. The Grigori were cast from the sight of the Almighty, and bound up in an endless Abyss, where they would remain in torment to await the Day of Judgement.
The Second Incursion
The legacy of the Watchers, their kingdoms, their temples, and their Children, were destroyed. Of the human race, only Noah, his wife, and his sons were found worthy of salvation. But the sons had wives, whom they loved, and they brought their families through the tempest. These wives carried within their veins the blood of angels, and from them the Seed of the Nephilim found root in the soil of the new earth. Though they bore children of the mundane sort, they also bore children of divine lineage.
This new generation was diminished from the stature of their forebears, both in size and in power, but they remained mighty in the world that would follow. And for a time they were not alone. A scant few of the first generations of the Nephilim had survived the flood by burying themselves deep within the soil, or by climbing the heights of the tallest mountains. They would later emerge and gather up these descendants of Noah, and with them form the first tribes that would spread across the world.
Also in these early days of the new world, a war erupted in the realms of Heaven. The Great Dragon set his flame against the authority of the Almighty, and was thrown down into the lowest depths for his transgression. With him fell a third of the Heavenly host, the remnant of the Grigori among them. These Watchers fell to earth rather than be swept into the Pit. Once again they presented themselves to mankind, and built new temples to dwell in, taking wives as their kind had done in the previous age. But the renewed line of Nephilim were children of Darkness, born out of spite rather than passion. Their lives were short, and their powers weakened, though they were still formidable in their time.
But the Grigori did not dwell long in the realm of earth, and when they left this world they did so discreetly, and with no sign of where they might go. For a time their children thrived, but the golden age of forbidden knowledge had already come to a close. The bonds between the human race and the Nephilim were broken, and the two would never again join together as they had in the previous epoch.
The ages progressed, and the human race spread, their numbers ever increasing. The Giants, likewise, faded slowly into extinction. The last of them buried their dead in great mounds before they themselves accepted eternal slumber beneath the open sky. With them died the final vestiges of a forgotten time.
But a seed remained. Dormant, it has passed through the lineages of man, until the time was right for it to take root once more.
The Seed of Giants
You are a Nephilim Descendant.
Your blood is the blood of Angels. Your genetic makeup a biological superstructure, forged by the will of the Almighty in a time before Heaven or Earth.
But your existence was never meant to be. Your lineage is a result of one entity choosing desire over obedience, and through the centuries your people have suffered for it time and again. And yet, here you are. Against all odds the bloodline of your forefather has persevered. Weakened, it has lain dormant in you, and you have lived your life in ignorance it. You are just one more lamb in the flock, and that has been your only protection.
The Blood of Canaan, a powerful government spanning organization has taken notice of you. They know what you are, because they are the same, and they have abducted you without consent, and hidden you away in an unknown location. This was done for your own safety, because they aren't the only ones searching for their kindred among the human population. There are others who might have found you first. Others who would have ended your lineage without hesitation.
But now you are faced with a problem. The Canaanites cannot allow you to resume your old life. It's much too dangerous, for yourself and your loved ones, as well as for the Organization. They have a place prepared for you, but you will never see the outside world again.
Except, perhaps, on one condition.
The Blood of Canaan needs soldiers. They are attempting to bring about a new golden age of technology and magic, but they are opposed by clans of misguided brethren who would rather watch the human race continue along its current path to self destruction. If you volunteer your life, they will train you. They will awaken the potential still slumbering within your blood, and give you power. In exchange, you will work for them, you will kill for them, and you will forfeit your humanity to them.
But you will have a life beyond their borders.
You will have a life....
