Appearance

Aniseed is a fairy, standing at seven inches high with a weight so negligible that strong winds push her around with ease. She takes on a humanoid shape and has distinguishably large bright amber eyes. Her hair is light brown, but it can appear orange under warm lighting. She arranges it in a fairly rough short style. Her wings resemble a butterfly's wings, but frayed at the edges. They carry a mint green tint, and usually flap slowly enough to easily see all four of them. They are translucent, so anyone can see through them if they try. She brushes her teeth religiously, and as a result they are in perfect health. Her toothpaste smells strongly of mint, and the smell tends to persist with her for the entire day.

She wears a jade butterfly hairpin, though she is inconsistent about where exactly she positions that accessory each morning. Her casual wear consists of a backless green dress that matches the hue (but not the opacity) her wings, but aside from miniature white bloomers she wears nothing below the waist. She dresses smartly for work and for school, and most of her uniforms use jade as their primary colour. She even wears a bowtie sometimes that is identical to her hairpin, along with a collared white shirt, a jade jacket if the weather's cold, brown skirt, white tights and jade doll shoes. Aniseed will swap the skirt out for slacks if she needs to be especially formal.

Personality

Aniseed is an optimist in her most basic essence, and always does what she can to see the bright side of just about anything. She always tries to be polite to acquaintances and strangers alike, and never fails to wish them a good day. She loves cheering people up and is always proud to see herself making someone else's life just that little bit better. Aniseed herself is usually chipper, especially when the weather's nice.

When something upsets her, or when she gets picked on or bullied, Aniseed's first instinct to cry her eyes out. Her emotional resilience isn't amazing and sometimes she'll despair over even the most trifling of problems. If she upsets others, she gets overly apologetic and may not stop until she is explicitly forgiven.

She's a hard worker, and never complains or gossips about others unless she has something nice to say about them. At times she can be a bit of a chatterbox, but she never lets that get in the way of paid work. Her attitude towards schoolwork is a little more relaxed, since she feels less pressured by it. She still panics before exams, however.

When she gets home her first action is almost always to zip over to her room and turn on the video games. She rarely plays online, but does own a couple of multiplayer party games for when she has friends over. She has an amazing tolerance for spicy food, and loves almost any dish that contains chilli. She tends to avoid food that makes her breath smell, even if she doesn't necessarily hate the taste. Her favourite food of all is minty bubblegum, with the Twilight Café's very own Fairy Dusted Croissant a close second.

Aniseed also loves to party, and has an especial fondness for birthdays over other festivals. She's the kind of fairy who will never say no to a birthday invitation, and will only fail to show up if she's sick.

Ambitions

Aniseed's main mission in life is to bring smiles to Architect City. She gets by with a part-time job as a waitress at Twilight Café, and is pretty content with getting to serve customers there, but ultimately she wants to work behind the kitchen doors as a baker.

Her immediate goals are simply to make it through another year of classes at Tempo Academy. She wants to get her grades up so then she can at least get a better paying job, or maybe even just work full time at the café. She studies Magic and Home Economics primarily at school, but also takes a handful of core subjects like Math and Literacy.

Faults

Aniseed isn't the smartest fairy on the block, and is very easy to confuse or stump. She doesn't mind trying to solve puzzles, but usually she fails at anything more complicated than basic mathematics or magic. She's struggling in school because of it and really needs a tutor. She can also be quite clumsy, and has had one or two workplace accidents in the past.

Her light weight also makes her easy to push around. She does not do well on windy days. She also fears conflict.

Aniseed's immune system is weaker than most, so she is susceptible to disease. To avoid having to take time off work, she is very paranoid about germs and will avoid potential sources of infection if she can help it. She washes her hands far more often than necessary.

Physiological Abilities

Hover: Aniseed's wings allow her to hover up to several meters above the ground with little effort. She can't fly particularly fast, but it doesn't tire her at all.

Silverlight: The fairy tribe that Aniseed hails from transform when exposed to the light of the full moon. On these nights, Aniseed becomes 5 feet tall, and her maturity and magical power increase significantly.

Fairy Dust: Aniseed can sprinkle a golden dust from her wings, which does little more than glitter and sparkle.

Proficiencies

Magic: Aniseed has a basic understanding of magic, and is able to conjure confetti and firework spells. She can also shoot little rainbow rays from her fingers. On impact, these beams can hurt a bit, but they barely have enough penetration to pop a balloon. She also has the ability to levitate inanimate objects, and uses it frequently for work.

Under the effects of Silverlight, her firework spells are much more potent, and often explode into clusters of smaller firework spells. If she targets the terrain instead of the sky, it's very possible for her to demolish solid rock with the firework's blast. She uses this responsibly.

Cheerleading: Aniseed is practicing to be a cheerleader for Tempo Academy's sports teams, but her size often gets in the way. Her technique is pretty decent, but the only way she can get people to notice her is by using her magic for visual effects. She definitely needs to practice those.

Cooking: Aniseed is a very amateur chef, with a slight preference for baking than she has for cooking. She can cook for herself, but is not to be trusted in a professional setting. She tends to overload her dishes with sugar or chilli, depending on the dish.

Background

Aniseed was born at Arcadia Hospital to a fairy couple: Mint and Matcha. She was raised within one of the garden suites of the Stardust Apartments, and is still living with her parents there. They enrolled her into Tempo Academy when she was five, and she has been studying there ever since. She landed her first and only part-time job when she was eight, which for most fairies of her tribe is about a third of the way into their lives.

Relationships

Mint & Matcha: Aniseed's parents. Mint has an office job in Architect City in the insurance business, whereas his wife Matcha is a maid with a position right there in the apartment complex the family lives in. Both are quite elderly, and Mint is considering his retirement within the next year. They are both very proud of Aniseed's etiquette and personality, but do share concerns about her future.

Tempo Academy: Aniseed is occasionally bullied at school on account of both how dense she is, and how dense she is. Her physical weakness makes her a prime target, and her poor grades give her yet another reason to poke fun at her. However, most of her bullying problems get resolved by staff intervention, so on the whole she's managing with the social aspect of academy life. There are also several students who appreciate her generosity and even some who have crushes on her. She may be weak, she may be dumb, but she's still charming!

Twilight Café: Aniseed is popular among the staff and customers alike at the café. While her service is sometimes a little sloppy, nobody can really stay mad at her for long. She doesn't ask for much from the café in terms of salary or benefits (the experience is what's important to her right now), and she always remembers all of her colleagues' birthdays.
